Hidden Valley Wine Farm is a gem to be discovered on the slopes of the Helderberg Mountain near Stellenbosch. The modern architecture makes use of natural elements of rock and wood, surrounded by indigenous valley and slopes of vineyard rows. Hidden Valley’s chocolate pairing was specially designed to enhance the flavours in our wines. Hidden Valley’s aim is to educate your taste buds with different textures and unusual taste profiles. Enjoy our breathtaking views as you relax and listen to the tranquility of nature while the sounds, sights and smells all blend into our wines.
Blaauwklippen was founded in 1682 however it wasn’t until 1688 that the first vineyards were planted in the fertile soil of the estate. Jump forward to 1899, when famed businessman and politician Cecil John Rhodes became the owner of Blaauwklippen, but only for one day! In 1971 the renowned Stellenbosch Wine Route was founded, with Blaauwklippen as one of the first members.
The Route is still going strong today as one of the biggest tourist attractions in the Western Cape. Blaauwklippen became the first winery outside of the USA to join ZAP (Zinfandel Advocates and Producers) for their wonderful array of Zinfandel products and in 2015 they celebrated 333 years of Blaauwklippen Vineyards! Here we enjoy their delectable wine & chocolate pairing!
DV Chocolate – Paarl: Crafted by the De Villiers family in the Cape Winelands, DV Artisan Chocolate is one of the few ‘Bean to Bar’ micro batch chocolate makers in the world. There are only 2 “bean to bar” chocolate makers in South Africa! They have also recently opened their new retail store in Franschhoek. Their Self Tutored Chocolate Tasting menu offers the opportunity to sample numerous chocolates. We will do the Single Origin tasting – for the dark chocolate lover.
